Police in Limpopo is investigating a culpable homicide after a taxi driver lost control of a taxi with 14 passengers, killing 12 passengers and the driver on the scene. The accident took place on the N1 a few kilometers after the Kranskop toll gate. The taxi was heading to Polokwane.

It is alleged that the driver and passengers were doing the idibala dance. They were dancing to King Monada’s song Malwedhe. “We have obtained a footage from a cell phone, one of the passengers was taking a video and we can confirm the driver and some of the passengers we doing the dance and it led to the accident, in the footage, the driver bends down and left the wheel unattended”.

Police believe the driver left the wheel while doing the idibala dance and he did not account for the upcoming curve. “We found the song still playing on the wrecked taxi, it was on repeat. The idibala dance is dangerous not only when driving”. Said an ER driver who responded to the accident.
The song Malwedhe and the viral idibala dance is taking the world by storm with footage of the dance appearing from as far as China. South Africans are already speculating that it is a song of the year. Big celebrities including DJ Tira have already congratulated King Monada.
